This is actually a reply to several replies...
geeze, i didn't even think of t-shirts. how silly of me <g>
I have dibs on kylix. of course I'd be glad for some expert help, since
i d/l the 30 day eval about 20 days ago but haven't done much more that
start the app.
i think we would have much more success if we were on the agenda with
another larger event. i worry that single purpose events won't be well
attended. this is just a gut feel, so feel free to talk/shout me out of
it. It may well be there is enough interest in Linux in the general
business community that a 'mono' event would fly. I think the first
effort should be to send a questionnaire around somehow.
i don't care if SCO comes, but we would certainly want a booth
presenting the 'other' side, even if SCO isn't there. Of course, that
is assuming that the whole SCO thing is still alive when we get this
thing off the ground.
WRT SCO, I'm not doing this directly as a response to the whole SCO
issue, but that is what got me to thinking about what could be done to
promote Linux.
I personally think/hope we could make some headway in
the thought processes of local city/town governments. they are a long
term effort, though. if we pull this off, I'll personally badger, uh,
invite mayor billings.
i think we would want one whole booth to success stories, complete with
reprints, etc. also have some local 'success stories' send people to
answer questions as someone already suggested.
as for the time frame, i think we are talking several months to pull
this off, since we daresn't fail or we could really do some harm to
Linux.
