I don't have anything against the people at SCO individually. You and
any others on the list are more than welcome to work there and I hold
nothing against you for it. It's a job, and it pays the bills. I just
hope if you have some influence that you can pass on some of the
reaction of those who may be administering your software in the future
to those involved. I only hope SCO realizes what they are getting into.
I have heard of nothing but openness from the Open-Source community, and
nothing but deception and secrecy from SCO as a company - at least that
is what it is being portrayed as among many administrators throughout
the world.
Here, us sysadmins finally see an option that is finally beginning to
become possible in gaining approval from those in executive positions
that is cheap and very reliable, and SCO is the one that could possibly
take it away from us - or is at least threatening it. Therefore, when
it comes time for us to purchase large licenses of software, SCO's UNIX
as a brand no longer looks appealing to us. I think this is only
strengthening the appearance of Linux and open-source.
I know perhaps as an individual you don't take the stance that SCO
takes, but your company does, and that is what I am mainly against. I
hold nothing against you. I commend you for being a Linux user, as I do
all employees at SCO that use Linux and open-source.
