Ariadne Application Server

Kimball,

The best solution under the sun is under your very nose. Open for
Business (http://www.ofbiz.org) was developed by a local Utahn, David E.
Jones. I have worked with Cocoon and OFBiz and both are non-trivial to
work with, but then OFBiz is designed to be a full Web Services
platform. For content display, it uses a combination of JPublish for
template management and FreeMarker (a Velocity-like markup language) and
is well thought out.

The thing I like about OFBiz is that uses industry standards wherever
possible. If you were new to Java, you couldn't do better than to look
at OFBiz as an example of best practices. One of the cool things about
it is that it has a mature Entity Engine that abstracts all database
operations, so your code will work with any major db. Personally, I
think that it is going to go ballistic and be the Linux of Web Services.

There are a number of Utah companies using OFBiz, including
PartnerHomes, NowPulse and In2M. We have formed a local users group,
SLOFBUG, and are having our first meeting at my home tonight. If you are
interested email me and I will let you know the particulars.
