Seeing Linux from Windows

from the command line..
/etc/init.d/smb status
should return two processes smbd and nmbd. BOTH need to be running for
linux to act like a windows box... but smbd only needs to be running to
connect directly i believe...
if they both arn't running
/etc/init.d/smb restart
then do a status again.. and they both should be running again...
if not... check the log files in /var/log/samba, log.nmbd and log.smbd
are the two you want to pay the most attention to if nmbd/smbd are not
running after the restart.
